Decarbonisation for buildings-based organisations
Cultural organisations are taking climate action with practical and creative responses celebrating and centering people and planet, nature and justice.
If you are a cultural organisation looking to become more energy efficient and reduce emissions, then join our Transforming Energy programme. It is an opportunity to take practical action in response to the climate crisis, leading the way for the sector and inspiring peers.
To make significant carbon reductions during the UN Decade of Action, we need to reduce our use of energy and ultimately, stop using fossil fuels in our buildings. The Transforming Energy programme aims to support cultural organisations to achieve this by focusing on decarbonisation for buildings.
We have divided the programme into two strands of activity to cater for organisations at different stages of their energy emissions reduction plan.
- Buildings Net Zero Energy: This programme provides guidance to building-based organisations across Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) and Investment Principles Support Organisations (IPSOs) to work towards Net Zero Energy in their buildings. Whether organisations are just beginning to think about decarbonisation of their buildings, or have already started to make changes, there is support on offer through resources, drop-in sessions and online energy management training. While this programme is primarily for NPOs, our resources are available for free to anyone working in the cultural sector. Details on how to take part in this strand will be launched soon.
- Capital Investment Ready: This programme works with two cohorts of 10 organisations that are already making significant progress in energy reductions. It supports them to become Capital Investment Ready for the electrification of one key cultural venue, and aims to help them decarbonise their buildings by 2030. Participating organisations benefit from bespoke coaching and mentoring, and peer-sharing opportunities so that they are ready to invest in low-carbon solutions when funding opportunities become available for the sector.
Details support available through the programme and criteria for taking part can be found in the link below.
