Photographer: Gaelle Beri<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Over the years Julie\u2019s Bicycle has interacted with the <strong>UN\u2019s Conference of Parties (COP)<\/strong> through different channels, from campaigning to organising events. We believe that engaging with the mechanism of COP is vital to reach global decision-makers such as the UNFCCC, to <strong>ensure that the contribution of culture to climate action is recognised on a truly global scale.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our significant work in this space started with <strong>COP21 in 2015<\/strong> with our letter calling for an ambitious climate agreement.<\/li>\n<li>We built on the momentum of the letter and newly formed Paris Agreement with <a href=\"https:\/\/juliesbicycle.com\/our-work\/campaigns\/coptimism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>\u2018Coptimism\u2019<\/strong> conversations<\/a> at <strong>COP23<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>During <strong>COP26<\/strong>, we <a href=\"https:\/\/juliesbicycle.com\/policyportal\/\">called on governments to address the gap between culture and environment policy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In November 2022, <strong>COP27<\/strong> delivered <a href=\"https:\/\/juliesbicycle.com\/news-opinion\/juliesbicycle_at_cop27\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exciting news and a historical win<\/a> for the creative climate movement when, for the first time ever, national governments included cultural heritage in statements on both<strong> \u2018loss and damage<\/strong>\u2019 and <strong>\u2018adaptation\u2019<\/strong>. JB partnered with <strong>Climate Heritage Network<\/strong> and others for this significant achievement, ensuring that culture is recognised as an asset to be protected from climate impacts and a resource to strengthen communities\u2019 transformative change.<\/li>\n<li>Under the leadership of the Climate Heritage Network, Julie\u2019s Bicycle is heading up an exciting new climate campaign. It is a <strong>global call to the UNFCCC<\/strong> to include cultural heritage, the arts and creative sectors in climate policy at<strong> COP28<\/strong>.
