Join us at the last event of Season for Ex-Change.

Julie’s Bicycle inaugurated the first Creative Green Awards in 2017 to recognise and honour the achievements of the creative community taking action on climate change. The Creative Green Awards are still the only environmental awards designed specifically for the creative and cultural sector. This year the event will be held in a virtual ceremony on Friday 13th November, 4:45pm-6:15pm.

Through our Creative Green programme, we collaborate with arts organisations and creative businesses to embed environmental action in the way they work, and through the Creative Green Certification and Awards we recognise and celebrate the environmental best practice of events, venues, museums, galleries, festivals and creative offices.

This event will provide a chance to reflect on and celebrate the fantastic work being done within the arts and culture to take climate action, and a chance to look ahead to Season for Change in 2021, a UK-wide season that any artists or arts organisations can take part in.

16:40 ‘Doors open’

16:45 – 17:00 Interactive provocation, Metis Arts

17:00 – 17:05 Hana Ayoob welcome and housekeeping

17:05 – 17:10 Julie’s Bicycle and Season for Change welcome – Graciela Thornton Melitsko and Salome Wagaine

17:10 – 17:15 Creative Climate Action: Why now? – Alison Tickell

17:15 – 17:20 Keynote – Gillian Burke (pre-recorded)

17:20 – 17:30 Awards presentations pt 1

17:30 – 17:35 Spoken word performance – Kirk-Ann Roberts

17:35 – 17:45 Awards presentations pt2

17:45 – 17:50 Introduction to public awards – Chiara Badiali

17:50 – 17:55 Public awards presentations

17:55 – 18:00 Summary and wrap up

18:00 – 18:15 Performance – Love Ssega

18:15 Ceremony wrap

We’re thrilled to announce our keynote speaker Gillian Burke, who will be talking about the role of culture in climate leadership and how we can continue to push for the changes we need.

Gillian joined the BBC’s much-loved Springwatch brand in 2018 alongside hosts Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan & Iolo Williams. She also recently presented the BBC’s Blue Planet UK with co-host Steve Brown.

Having earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Bristol University, Gillian pursued a career in natural history filmmaking, working her way up the ranks from Researcher to Producer/Director on several Animal Planet and Discovery Channel series.

Whether from the natural world or the human world, she is drawn to the rich vein of stories that are full of universal themes of awe and wonder, defeat and victory, struggle and survival. As a scientist, she is committed to tracking down and sharing evidence of hope. It’s why she defiantly remains an optimist (on most days).

This online event will be live captioned and BSL interpreted.
