This Creative Climate Chat is a lunchtime session forming part of the Museums, Cities, Cultural Power Symposium<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We’re hosting this exciting lunchtime session with Sadie Young<\/strong>, Director of Timespan<\/a>, a cultural organisation in Helmsdale, a village in the very north east of the Scottish Highlands, with local, global and planetary ambitions to utilise culture for social change. We\u2019ll be discussing how museums and galleries can uncover and contextualise local histories and how they can connect to wider movements to help enact radical social change.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll also be joined by Hilary Jennings,<\/strong> who will tell us more about Happy Museum<\/a> and their new partnership with Julie\u2019s Bicycle.<\/p>\n

About Sadie:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sadie Young is a researcher, curator and educator and Director of Timespan, a cultural institution in the very north east of the Scottish Highlands with local, global and planetary ambitions to weaponise culture for social change.
\nSadie is committed to using the cultural institution as a public space to expand the civic sphere and to respond to social urgencies through communal learning, the production of collective knowledge and lobbying at all levels, and is motivated by those on the coal face fighting for emancipation, liberation and equality.<\/p>\n

About Hilary:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Hilary Jennings is part time Director of the Happy Museum Project which explores museum practice that supports the wellbeing of people, place and planet. She is an associate of the Clore Leadership and Extend Leadership programmes and a core group member of the Co-Creating Change network and has worked extensively in the craft sector including founder Director for Craft with the government skills agency Creative and Cultural Skills. She is Co-Chair of the global grassroots sustainability Transition Network.<\/p>\n

This Creative Climate Chat is part of the Season for Ex-Change<\/strong>,<\/a> an 8-week programme of free online events for artists, arts organisations, cultural practitioners, producers, curators and anyone who wants to learn about, share knowledge or get ideas and inspiration on embedding climate action and climate justice in their artistic and creative work.<\/p>\n
