Richard Phillips is a consultant and facilitator for sustainability in the music sector at pioneering culture and climate non-profit Julie’s Bicycle.
Richard provides climate and environmental expertise across the breadth of live and recorded music, from festivals and venues, to record labels, management teams and touring. His work includes advising on decarbonisation strategies, delivering technical carbon measurement, leading research deep-dives on specific industry challenges to sustainability and building communities around environmental action.
His recent projects include developing practical environmental action toolkits for touring and festivals across Europe and the US, trialling new environmental standards for events (Green Events Code of Practice) and supporting a climate transition plan and vision for festivals towards 2030.
Recent partners include the BRIT Awards, record label associations such as IMPALA, live events industry association LIVE and sustainable festival network Vision:2025.
Richard is motivated by collaborative action on the climate crisis that can unlock the potential of the creative industries to inspire societal change.
