Swati joined Julie’s Bicycle in October 2024 as Sustainability Coordinator, bringing her expertise to both the digital and Arts Council England teams. In her role, she supports Creative Climate Tools implementation and contributes to the overall coordination within the Arts Council programme, focusing on sector leadership, governance, resilience, and carbon reduction efforts.
With over 10 years of experience, Swati has specialised in the strategic development and promotion of traditional, slow production techniques, with a focus on fostering sustainable creative practices within the fashion and craft industries. She is dedicated to embedding sustainability into the heart of the creative sector, supporting organisations in scaling their efforts toward setting sustainable goals, reducing waste, and implementing practices aligned with climate and environmental justice. Swati has worked as a project manager for certifications such as Craftmark and Craftmark Green, and as a strategic consultant for the Aditya Birla Group in India. Her collaborations span a range of sustainability initiatives, including circular design strategies, feasibility studies, and projects that merge community crafts with culture, particularly those involving indigenous communities. When not at work, she likes to care for her plants, practise yoga, bake and cook.
Swati has completed her masters education in design from the National Institute of Design (India) and recently completed a course at Oxford University on the Future of Sustainable Business – Enterprise and the Environment.
