JULIE’S BICYCLE AT THE GREAT ESCAPE 2019

WEDNESDAY 8 MAY: BELIEVE TO BRIGHTON

The wonderful team at Believe Music Group are showing their commitment to a greener future for us all by organising a bike ride from their office in London down to the Great Escape – and raising money for Julie’s Bicycle as they do so!

Donations will help to support our on-going work on Green Riders and empowering artist and industry action on climate change within the music sector.

A few intrepid souls on the JB team are getting in the saddle for the cause – if you’d like to make a contribution in recognition of their heroic efforts, you can do so here.

The best pun that manages to bring together Green Riders, bicycles, Believe and The Great Escape wins a sweaty hug from Laura at the end.

THURSDAY 9 MAY: JULIE’S BICYCLE IN CONVERSATION WITH BELIEVE

16:00 – 17:00 at Believe Social @ Dead Wax Social, 18A Bond Street Brighton BN1 1RD

In 2018, Novo Amor released his album Birthplace. The single of the same title was accompanied by a breath-taking video featuring free diver Michael Board coming face to face with a 13 meter whale made of plastic – an exploration of our present-day plastics malaise, recognised with the accolade of Video of the Year at the Association of Independent Music Awards 2018.

Hear Dave Grinnell, senior marketing manager at AllPoints / Believe and Chiara Badiali from Julie’s Bicycle in conversation: we’ll talk about how the Believe team worked to bring environmental sustainability into the album campaign and manufacture, the impact that it’s had at Believe Music Group and what they’re doing to green their operations, and how Novo Amor worked with Julie’s Bicycle and Energy Revolution around his tour.

RSVP here.

FRIDAY 10 MAY: CI:STRONG OPINIONS AT AIM HOUSE

16:00 – 16:15 at the Hotel Bar, AIM House at the Queens Hotel

A quickfire talk on the environmental impact of recorded music – is streaming better or worse than physical product, and is that even the right question to ask? And if carbon emissions need to reach net zero by 2050 at the latest, where do we begin to take action?

More info about AIM House here.

FRIDAY 10 MAY: JULIE’S BICYCLE DROP-IN: MUSIC VS CLIMATE CHANGE / GREEN RIDERS

11:00 – 17:00 (except 15:45 – 16:30) at Jury’s Networking Pod, Jury’s Inn Brighton Waterfront

Are you an artist, agent, or manager who wants to find out more about using a ‘Green Rider’ to tour, or merchandise that won’t cost the earth? Are you a venue, festival, or other music business puzzling about renewable energy, energy efficiency, and plastic waste? Or just worried about ecological breakdown and wondering where to start? Come speak to Chiara from Julie’s Bicycle – bring your curiosity, experiences, concerns, and questions. Email chiara@juliesbicycle.com if you want to reserve a time.
