EXHIBITION: SOIL exhibition at Somerset House. A range of stories and responses to soil from a group of global artists, writers, musicians and scientists. The exhibition sets out to inspire and educate visitors about the power and the fragility of soil, its fundamental role in human civilisation and its remarkable potential to heal our planet. Until 13 Apr 2025. 

EXHIBITION: VITAL SIGNS: Another World is Possible – Visit Science Gallery London at King’s College London (Guy’s Campus) for this exhibition which brings together artists, designers, and researchers to delve into the interconnections between the health of the natural world—from waterways to our atmosphere and ocean floors—and our own health and wellbeing. Until 17 May.

EVENT: Webinar on Libraries and positive climate action: is digital a problem or a solution? This webinar will look at both positive and negative effects of digital activities on the climate, and how different libraries are adapting their thinking with climate impact in mind. Thursday 13 February, 10 – 11.30am. Free – booking required.

EVENT: A Greener Future host their annual Green Events & Innovations conference. It’ll bring together leaders & sustainability experts to discuss the latest solutions, research & trends shaping a greener event sector. We’ll be there, will you? Tue 25 February.

ARTIST CALL OUT: The Creative Climate Awards 2025, hosted by the Human Impacts Institute, invites you to submit work for this year’s theme, Inspiring Futures. Show the world your vision for a sustainable future! Deadline: 10 February.

ARTIST CALL OUT: The European Marine Board is looking for two artists/groups of artists for the 2025/2026 edition of their Embracing the Ocean artist-in-residence programme. Applications from both emerging and established artists welcome. Apply before 17 February.

ARTIST CALL OUT: Time of the Rivers – Presented by Radical Ecology, Borneo Bengkel, and the British Council Malaysia. Apply for this 6-month fellowship programme for Malaysian and UK artists exploring art, ecology, and climate adaptation. Includes mentoring, field visits (Borneo & UK), and a showcase. Deadline: 13 February.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Music Moves Europe – The EU is offering €5 million in grants to accelerate the green transition of the music ecosystem. The programme supports strategic needs assessment, capacity-building, and cascading grants for greener practices. Open to European music sector organisations. Deadline: 19 February.

ARTIST OPPORTUNITY: Beach of Dreams – Are you a community artist in love with the UK’s rugged and vibrant shores? This is an open invitation for communities across Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland to connect with the beauty, stories, and challenges of the UK’s coastlines. Individuals, groups and organisations are encouraged to create local events as part of the UK-wide programme of activity. The UK-wide Coastal Arts Festival will take place from 1 May–1 June 2025. WASTE MANAGEMENT: The Compost Collective offers tailored composting solutions for arts and cultural organisations, addressing food waste and emissions at events, canteens, and more. With operational, educational, and cultural support, they make composting accessible and effective. Founded by UAL alumni, they bring creativity to climate action, fostering collective environmental impact. Find out more.

FUNDRAISING: Support the Vision: 2025 initiative in shaping the events industry’s 2030 climate strategy. This project aims to develop a comprehensive climate transition plan and secure government investment. Help raise £50k to match funds from Arts Council England, EarthPercent, Dixon Foundation, and Festival Republic.

SURVEY: International Travel Survey for Musicians — The Scottish Classical Sustainability Group is gathering insights from musicians about international touring. While crucial for cultural exchange, it’s also a major source of carbon emissions. We want to know how often you travel, what works, and what challenges you face. Open to musicians from all genres (classical, folk, jazz, pop, etc.).

LEARNING: BAFTA albert has launched a new academy for screen production – providing information on a range of training and courses depending on level of experience, role or objective. From interactive workshops and courses to specialist courses created in collaboration with leading industry bodies; ScreenSkills, the BFI and the Carbon Literacy Project.

LEARNING: Environmental Heritage and Place – a new research digest from the Centre for Cultural Value. Researchers delve into over one hundred recent research studies and reports to uncover what we know about the relationship between cultural heritage, environments and place.
