OPEN CALL: Cool Off in Culture – contribute to a new campaign mapping cultural spaces where Londoners can cool down during summer heatwaves by adding your venue to the map. Help position the cultural sector as a key player in building a climate-resilient London.
OPEN CALL: Applications are now open for the Communicating Sustainability pilot project, led by Indigo & Arts Council England. This year-long programme will support 5 cultural organisations to develop impactful, audience-focused approaches to sustainability communications. Starts Sept 2025 / Register interest.
EVENT: BFI FAN: Green Hour – Igniting Local Climate Action – an online session exploring how film can inspire real-world climate action, featuring case studies from T A P E Collective and Curzon Clevedon on blending cinema with community organising. Location: Online / Date: 17 June, 12:00–13:00.
EVENT: Locus of Voices – an exhibition offering a vision for resilience and renewal in a time of escalating planetary crisis, featuring installation, sculpture, dance, painting, music, film, and stewardship demonstrations. Location: Proposition Bethnal Green (throughout the galleries, lecture hall, and garden) / Date: Friday 20th June to Sunday 17th August.
OPEN CALL: Proposals are now open for the Second Global Artivism Convening, taking place 3–5 November 2025 in Salvador, Bahia. Artists, activists, and changemakers are invited to submit ideas for sessions, performances and workshops exploring art, activism, and imagination in a time of collapse. Deadline: 17 June.
EVENT: Plan ahead: Climate Resilience for London’s Cultural Venues – a half-day event for cultural leaders to explore how venues can adapt to London’s changing climate, featuring new climate risk mapping, case studies, and practical strategies for building resilience. Location: London / Date: 24 June.
RESIDENCY: Applications are now open for Talking Birds’ Nest Residencies, offering deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent artists in Coventry supported time and space to explore new creative ideas at The Nest. Deadline: 1 July.
OPEN CALL: Applications are now open for the 2025 edition of the European Award – a leading initiative celebrating innovative approaches to audience access, participation and engagement across the arts. Open to cultural organisations from all artistic sectors across Europe. Deadline: 9 July.
WASTE MANAGEMENT: The Compost Collective offers tailored composting solutions for arts and cultural organisations, addressing food waste and emissions at events, canteens, and more. With operational, educational, and cultural support, they make composting accessible and effective. Founded by UAL alumni, they bring creativity to climate action, fostering collective environmental impact. Find out more.
SURVEY: International Travel Survey for Musicians — The Scottish Classical Sustainability Group is gathering insights from musicians about international touring. While crucial for cultural exchange, it’s also a major source of carbon emissions. We want to know how often you travel, what works, and what challenges you face. Open to musicians from all genres (classical, folk, jazz, pop, etc.).
LEARNING: BAFTA albert has launched a new academy for screen production – providing information on a range of training and courses depending on level of experience, role or objective. From interactive workshops and courses to specialist courses created in collaboration with leading industry bodies; ScreenSkills, the BFI and the Carbon Literacy Project.
LEARNING: Environmental Heritage and Place – a new research digest from the Centre for Cultural Value. Researchers delve into over one hundred recent research studies and reports to uncover what we know about the relationship between cultural heritage, environments and place.
GUIDE: onboard:earth releases the 5th edition of its Green Travel & Transport Guide – a practical resource for event organisers, featuring 2024 research, case studies, and tools to reduce travel emissions across the live events sector.
FUNDRAISING: Onboard:earth celebrates £740,000 raised for environmental restoration – join them in reaching our £1 million goal by 2026! Onboard:earth is a charity founded by Boomtown Fair, Shambala, and Kendal Calling, working to raise funds for environmental restoration and community renewable energy projects.
