Barbican – Accelerator Programme insights
#1: Local Futures
We joined the Accelerator Programme as a cohort of three partners (Barbican, Artillery and London Borough of Waltham Forest), brought together through our long standing collaboration on community powered festival, Walthamstow Garden Party.
#2: Positive Confusion
In the first blog we set out some of the initial questions we had at the start of the Accelerator Programme, at a time when we were still in planning mode for the 2020 & 2021 festivals.
Having accepted that these festivals weren’t going to happen. We began a new phase of our journey with less immediate delivery pressures and more time to hold collective conversations about what a re-imagined festival might look like in the future.
#3: Regenerative Design
In the first two blogs we talked about the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 Walthamstow Garden Party festivals, and shared the some of the insights and questions emerging from collective conversations with local creative collaborators about what a new re-imagined festival might look like in 2022. In this blog we explore our first foray into Regenerative Design, working with regenerative artist and practitioner Dr Tanja Beer.
#4: New Possibilities
In the previous blogs we shared the beginnings of our journey into the field of Regenerative Design. We talked through the Regenerative Design Workshop that we held with Dr Tanja Beer, and dipped into how we’ve started thinking about the roles that cultural organisations might play in bringing about more regenerative cultures for the places we care about.
In this final blog we update on where things are with “Local Futures” and Walthamstow Garden Party. Reflecting on some key learnings and insights from our time as part of The Accelerator Programme, as well as questions that we’ll be carrying with us into the future.
