Generator: Mapped Out Guide for Grassroots Music Promoters

The Mapped Out guide, published in 2016, is aimed at supporting grassroots music promoters in the UK in greening their shows and operations. It covers key areas of impact, top tips for promoters and small venues, action planning, and communications and marketing.

The content of this guide is based on several masterclasses and individual support provided by Julie’s Bicycle to the Mapped Out project participants in 2013-2016.

Mapped Out was funded through Arts Council England’s Strategic Touring Programme.

Formulated by music development agency Generator, the project worked on the professional development of promoters across the UK with a focus on traditionally underserved areas. The programme supported 12 national tours as well as providing promoters with job shadows with established promoters, networking meetings and promoter master-classes covering digital marketing, principles of design, environmental sustainability, and brand building.
