Sustainable International Commissions

Outdoor art festival, looking at a stage, night time, audience

Sustainable International Commissions

The Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF) is an annual free outdoor arts and street theatre festival in Stockton-on-Tees. Through a partnership with Julie’s Bicycle, they are looking at how they and other festivals can take environmental action and reduce their impacts. This case study has been produced as part of this work.

This case study takes a detailed look at an international commission designed to minimise environmental impacts, with a comparison to a ‘business as usual’ approach to international collaborations. It demonstrates it is possible to continue benefiting from international collaborations, with a greatly reduced footprint.
