Vanessa is a freelance arts producer and project manager. She has significant senior experience – across producing and organisational leadership / management – gained within touring, building-based, non-profit and commercial creative contexts.
Vanessa has worked extensively in the performing arts – primarily contemporary theatre; but also comedy, live music and spoken word. In recent years, her focus has broadened to include more visual arts practice and projects that are community-centred and/or site-specific.
Vanessa is a passionate believer in the power of the arts – to bring joy, enhance wellbeing, create a sense of place and as a catalyst for empathy, dialogue and social change. She is interested in building agency and the broadest possible public engagement through programming and participation. She is particularly committed to supporting work around refugees-migrants, the climate crisis / alternative futures and identity-belonging (individual and collective).
Alongside Julie’s Bicycle, Vanessa is currently working with Counterpoints Arts as a freelance producer in Kent and Medway. She is Chair for Futures Theatre and a trustee for Creative Folkestone.
