Webinar Series: Green Deal For Culture

July 23, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Aligning with the policy priorities of the Green Deal our new series of seven webinars will take place over the coming year, exploring the seven pillars of a Green Deal for Culture.

The first webinar in the series ‘Sustainable Cultural Mobility’ took place on 23rd July at 11am. We will consider where we are now in terms of our movement and the associated emissions, where we need to get to and how to transition to a low carbon future for touring, exhibiting and performing.

Episode two looks at digital technology, which has fast become integral and indispensable in all aspects of our lives; from creative production and programming through to the way that we work, interact and engage with our audiences. Unlike other environmental impacts, such as waste production or smoke from vehicle exhausts, the impact of using digital technology is next to invisible. How can we start to understand and account for the impacts of digital creations and technology? Is digital actually less damaging than physical? And either way, what steps can be taken to minimise digital impacts? This webinar will explore these questions and look at creative approaches to tackling them from across the sector.

REGISTER FOR EPISODE TWO: SUSTAINABLE DIGITAL CREATIVITY

A recording of episode one will be available to view shortly.

The dates for the rest of the series will be announced soon, the topics will be:

  • Climate Action and Science Based Targets
  • Sustainable Food Systems
  • Clean and Green Buildings
  • Sustainable and Circular Production
  • Biodiversity and natural heritage
  • Pollution and the Creative Industries

Run in partnership with the Arts Council England as part of the environmental programme.
